31 October 2018

The shortlist for the British Woodworking Federation (BWF) Awards has been announced.

Now in their tenth year, the awards celebrate the best of the best in UK woodworking, recognising technical innovation, process efficiencies, health & safety and the rising stars of the industry.

In the highly-coveted Woodworking Project of the Year Award, the shortlist includes Houghtons of York for their work recreating Soanes’ Ark of the Masonic Covenant, TMJ Interiors for creating a timber lobby ‘vortex’, and Tompkins Joinery who worked on the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee galleries and the new tower at Westminster Abbey.

In the Product Design in Wood category, Arden Windows is shortlisted for their sash window designed specifically for care apartments, while Coastal Group makes it with two different projects – a lift and slide system to help sliding doors perform better, and a range of door locks, bolts and tilt & turn system.

The other awards recognise process efficiency, health & safety and the prestigious Apprentice or Trainee of the Year.

“Once again, it’s a stellar shortlist that brilliantly demonstrates the vibrancy and quality of the UK woodworking industry,” said Helen Hewitt, acting chief executive of the BWF.

The winners will be announced at BWF’s Annual Dinner which will take place at Stationers’ Hall, London on  November 23.
