Timber Expo: Coillte and Enterprise Ireland host Irish mills
5 October 2013Irish forestry company Coillte, in partnership with Enterprise Ireland, played host to three Irish sawn timber exporters on their stand – Glennon Brothers, Murray Timber and GP Wood.
Irish sawmills export over 70% of their production to the UK and Irish timber accounts for 7% of total UK timber imports.
"Timber Expo is the biggest showcase for Irish timber in the important UK market," said Richard Lowe, Coillte's head of timber sales and market.
"Irish timber remains a sought after product in a competitive market due to Ireland's commitment to sustainable forestry and our innovative products.
"Timber Expo is the largest showcase of timber technology ever seen in the UK," he added.
"The Expo represents an important opportunity for the Irish timber sector to engage with customers and continue to drive exports to the UK, a key strategic objective for Coillte, and consistent with Enterprise Ireland's remit to match Irish capability with international opportunity."
