Arbor in £2.8m MDF investment

11 July 2016

Arbor Forest Products has invested £2.8m in a new MDF mouldings production unit that will double the company’s capacity.

The investment, which will allow the firm to offer customer specials, follows a rapid increase in Arbor’s MDF mouldings business since it invested in a production unit in early 2014.

That first line was on two shifts at maximum capacity and fully sold out within nine months. The new line will allow Arbor to offer different lengths as well as customers’ own profiles, cross-cutting and trenching.

It is currently being installed at Arbor’s New Holland headquarters, and production will commence in August.

The company’s new managing director Jason Ostler said its MDF production supported the company’s Warehouse On Wheels service, which enables the delivery of products by a single vehicle.

“We recognised that simply offering all products on a single vehicle was not enough; Arbor Forest Products needed to specialise in each product in order for the service to be attractive, and a first rate MDF production unit was essential to helping us achieve this aim,” he said.
