BM TRADA to host designer and specifier conference

23 June 2019

BM TRADA, part of Element Materials Technology, is hosting a one day conference to address the technical aspects of designing, specifying and building with timber.

BM TRADA Talks Timber is aimed at structural and consulting engineers, architects, developers and project managers and will be held on Tuesday July 9 from 9am to 4.30pm at the Royal Geographical Society in London.

Throughout the day, attendees will hear directly from experts in the timber, civil engineering and fire industries who will offer their insights and practical advice for both conventional and innovative projects. There will also be the opportunity to learn more about timber from source to end use; to discuss the day’s topics with BM TRADA and Warringtonfire’s engaged experts, and to attend TRADA Advisory Line Live ‘surgery slots’.

Speakers during the day include: Richard White, expert consultancy lead from BM TRADA who will discuss the essential nature properties and characteristics of timber for successful design; Gary Newman, chief executive of Wood Knowledge Wales, who will talk about building with wood in a climate emergency; and Ben Sharples, technical consultant at BM TRADA, who will cover the fundamental relationship between moisture and timber.

“This conference provides an excellent opportunity for us to speak to customers and potential customers one-to-one, while demonstrating our expertise through advice clinics,” said Rob Veitch, executive vice-president of fire and building products at Element.

“Our engaged experts can pass on solutions for real business needs, which is an invaluable opportunity for those with specific timber questions or concerns.”

Standard ticket prices are £95 for non-members and £80 for TRADA members. Student tickets are £20. Tickets include lunch, refreshments during the networking breaks and a copy of ‘The Role of Wood in Healthy Buildings’ documents. To book, visit: bmtradatalkstimber.eventbrite.co.uk
