Brazil panel production site to be world’s largest

Wood-based panels machinery manufacturer Siempelkamp says an order from Brazilian company Fibraplac will make the latter’s Glorinha production site the largest panel manufacturing site in the world.

The Fibraplac order for a new chipboard line is one of six contract wins reported by Siempelkamp for the first quarter of 2014. The orders came in the chipboard, MDF and thin MDF product sectors.

Fibraplac already operates three Siempelkamp MDF lines at its Glorinha site in the state of Rio Grande do Sul. The connectivity between the production lines is expected to open up synergies in raw material usage and allow economic production of standard boards.

The new chipboard plant will have a daily capacity of 2,000m3. It is scheduled to be installed during this summer. Siempelkamp has also attracted an order from fellow Brazilian panel producer Asperbras, which is buying an MDF plant

Other orders include Rauch Spanplattenwerk (chipboard plant, Germany), Luoding Luyuan Wood Based Panel Co Ltd (thin MDF/HDF plant, China), Vietnam Rubber Group, MDF plant, Vietnam) and another western Asian customer.
