Bristol TTBS golf day raises funds

20 September 2018

This year’s Bristol Timber Trades Benevolent Society (TTBS) golf day was held at Bristol and Clifton Golf Club on Thursday, September 13 and was very generously sponsored by James Latham.

After three years playing away at Henbury Golf Club, the competitors appreciated the return to Failand. The weather and the day were perfect, as usual, thanks to the organisational skills of David Marcham.

The competition was a Stableford event for both singles and teams of four players. Full handicaps were the order of the day.

Neil Bowler of Taylor Maxwell, won the singles event with a creditable 40 points, followed by Barrie Greenslade on 35 points.

The Team Prize (best three out of four scores to count) was awarded to Taylor Maxwell

Nearest the pin was Martin Roberts of FW Morgan and Michael Britton, also of FW Morgan, achieved the longest drive.†
Richard Bagnall of Robbins Timber, who thanked the Golf Club, the catering and green staff and the club professional, Paul Mitchell for their hard work and support, presented the prizes.

The holes were kindly sponsored by: Robbins Timber, James Latham, Avon Plywood, John Huckman, Danzer UK, MEDITE SMARTPLY, UPM Timber UK, Taylor Maxwell, Lonza Tanalith, Mourne Timber Solutions, Heffernan Machinery Services, Global Panel Products, Balcas, International Plywood, Timber Direct, FW Morgan, Bristol City Timber and Snows Timber.

The organising committee chaired by Nick Widlinski of James Latham would like to thank everyone who took part, or contributed to the success of the event. Although monies are still being collected, the event will raise around £2,500 for the TTBS.

Next year will be the 70th anniversary of the Bristol TTBS golf day. Once again it will be held at Bristol and Clifton golf club and the date to put in your diary is Thursday, September 26 – and expect something special.
