CWP expands in Sweden

Continental Wood Products has opened a stockyard within its associated sawmill Jarl Timber in Broakulla Sweden.

CWP European softwood director Jerry Wilson said it was a strategic move to expand its Swede Speed direct trailer service to its UK customers.

“We now have our own UK specification of C24, which runs alongside the mill’s stock list. By combining the two inventories we are able to offer a much larger pick-a-pack choice.

“The next move is to increase the frequency of shipping to the UK to every day instead of twice weekly to a point where we can nearly always beat inland deliveries.”

CWP and Jarl Timber are both members of the Norvik Timber Industries Group. Jarl Timber CEO Egil Frietag said the stockyard was a perfect way forward for the mill.

“We are able to improve production planning and service the UK more effectively. Swede Speed has been an effective way to get volumes to customers efficiently and keep the handling and carbon footprint to an absolute minimum.”

Jarl Timber mill increased production to meet rising demand from both UK and European markets with steady demand for C24. Jarl Timber is able to produce 6m lengths, whereas many Swedish mills will only cut up to 5.4m.
