Deltic Timber weathers storm

8 August 2014

Deltic Timber, the US lumber company with mills in Arkansas and Louisiana, posted net income for the second quarter largely unchanged after accounting for gains from the acquisition of an MDF plant.

The company said it made US$5.3m, compared with US$11.2m a year before, but that included a US$5.7m gain from completing full ownership of Del-Tin Fiber.

"As the harsh winter conditions that existed during the first quarter subsided, new home construction activity improved. With this Deltic benefited from increased sales volumes of lumber and MDF," said CEO Ray Dillon.
