Fire Door Safety campaign has biggest impact to date

1 November 2016

The Fire Door Safety Week campaign reached almost double the audience it did last year.

The Sept 26-October 2 campaign, which was backed by the UK government’s fire minister, reached more than 8.8 million people through TV, radio and social media.

The number of supporters backing the campaign was also up 35% on 2015 and up 300% since its first began in 2013.

Fire Door Safety Week raises awareness of the critical role that fire doors play in saving lives and protecting property.

It is organised by the British Woodworking Federation (BWF), the federation’s Certifire Scheme and the Fire Door Inspection Scheme, in partnership with the government's safety campaign Fire Kills.

Some 39,600 dwelling fires were recorded in Great Britain in 2013-14, the equivalent of 108 fires in our homes every day.
