Frame Wise in administration

27 February 2015

Administrators have been appointed at award-winning timber frame manufacturer Frame Wise Ltd.

Joint administrators John Kelly and Mark Malone of Begbies Traynor, who were appointed on February 24, said recent losses and a bad debt gave rise to cashflow difficulties which made directors of Wales-based Frame Wise seek the protection of an administration order.

Trading has ceased and the workforce of approximately 40 people have been made redundant.

Days before the administrators were appointed, Frame Wise managing director Simon Orrells posted a statement on the company’s website, saying he was “saddened” that the company was having to file for administration.

“There is a constantly re-emerging trend of non-payment by large and medium sized main contractors, in many cases without justification, and withholding payment from small companies such as Frame Wise can have a crippling effect,” he said.

“After surviving the recession, investing heavily in offsite manufacturing equipment and machinery, to be forced to take this action is a bitter blow,” he added.

However, the administrators believe there is an ideal opportunity for an investor who could be interested in purchasing a well established award winning business that was well on the way to creating a “heatless housing” concept.
