Grange Fencing to cease UK manufacturing

7 September 2016

Large UK timber fencing manufacturer Grange Fencing is looking to shut its remaining factory and import product instead from its Polish parent company Stelmet SA.

The company has confirmed it is commencing staff consultations regarding closing the Telford plant by the end of the year with the loss of 110 jobs.

The news come just months after the company announced its other production facility in Hull was also closing and that the company was to benefit from a £30m investment by parent company Stelmet at the latter’s Grudziadz plant in Poland. An additional UK distribution site was also announced for the south east of England.

Grange said its Telford site would remain as the company’s UK headquarters, focusing on sales, marketing and distribution.

Grange managing director Neil Taylor said the company had experienced significant growth since the relaunch of the Grange brand in 2015 and its refocus on new product development.

“Grange is now increasing both its production capacity and its supply chain efficiency in order to ensure it can continue to grow with its customers – old and new,” he said.
