Howarth Timber excels in charity efforts

22 April 2014

Howarth Timber and Building Supplies has raised more than £15,000 in the past year for its charity partner Caudwell Children, helping to provide autism therapy and specialist sensory equipment for disabled youngsters.

Howarth's fund-raising efforts during 2013 included in-store collections, a Three Peaks Challenge staff fund-raiser, charity golf days, dress-down days and sponsored walks and runs.

The merchant aims to replicate its fund-raising efforts this year and has a host of events lined up to top 2013's total. A Three Peaks Challenge is planned for May, while an eight-hour Scafell Pike trek will take place in September.

Raffles will be held to raise funds, while the charity and Howarth have partnered up to sell a branded handsaw in Caudwell's famous purple. Money from sales of the tool will be donated to the charity.

Meanwhile, Howarth branches are being encouraged to carry out in-store fund-raisers for the charity. Howarth began its three-year partnership with the Stoke-on-Trent charity at the start of 2013. Money raised in the first year alone has helped three children to receive one year of autism therapy, two children to receive therapy tricycles, two children to receive one year of conductive education and three children to receive sensory equipment.

"Howarth Timber takes its corporate social responsibility very seriously and we are delighted that our relationship with Caudwell Children has been such a success over the past 12 months," said Howarth Timber managing director Nick Howarth. "We are looking forward to developing this relationship throughout 2014 and supporting them through a string of initiatives as they continue to provide invaluable support for disabled children and their families."
