I-beam floor capacity doubled

US-based convenience store chain Casey's General Stores has partnered with Service Management Group (SMG) for customer experience management (CEM) services.

The Wolverhampton-based company, which manufactures floor and roof systems, doorkits and MDF mouldings, will be capable of producing I-beams for 45,000 plots per year or about one-third of the UK new home market. The increase follows an investment in an automated doorkit production line at its Fibercill MDF mouldings business, which freed up space for investment in additional floor production, the company said.

“Last year builders suffered supply interruptions as demand exceeded capacity in the supply chain. During 2014 we made significant capital investment in both production and distribution facilities,” National Hickman deputy managing director Dave Formaston.

The company has also negotiated supply agreements with Norbord and James Jones for raw materials. “We can design, process and deliver engineered I-beam timber floors together with pre-drilling and assembly direct to new home builders throughout the UK,” Mr Formaston said.

National Hickman will be able to supply one-third of the UK new home market
