Interpol conducts further illegal logging action

7 December 2013

More than 856 logs have been seized and scores of people arrested during an Interpol operation to combat illegal logging across southern and eastern Africa.

Part of Interpol’s Project Leaf, the operation involved forest authorities and park rangers, as well as police and customs officers from five countries.

The operation follows the first action under Project Leaf earlier this year, in which 2,000 truckloads worth of timber (50,000m3) was seized across Latin America and almost 200 people arrested.
