Italian woodworking machinery exports fall

25 July 2014

Exports of Italian woodworking machinery fell in all major markets, except China, in 2013.

According to Acimall, the Italian woodworking machinery manufacturers' association, exports to Germany - Italy's biggest market - were down 3.1% on 2012.

Sales to the US fell by 7.5%; Austria 0.6%; and Taiwan 0.2%.

China was the only one of Italy's markets that improved, with sales up 12.6% (€790m) on 2012.

Acimall said the figures show that recovery is not yet established in the wood-processing industries.
