Timber importing group James E. Smith (Northern) Ltd has taken on a new fleet of sideloader trucks at its Hull operation.

The company, which imports timber from Scandinavia, the Baltics, Russia and Canada to Hull, invested in Bulmor Lancer trucks to replace its ageing and limited existing sideloader fleet.

The 2-acre site moves some 3000m3 of timber per month and supplies a diverse range of customers including modular buildings, caravan construction, joinery manufacturers, packing case manufacturers, garden buildings, agricultural specialists and fencing stockists and contractors.

James E Smith chose Bulmor Lancer for its advantages in handling the precise product lengths and requirements to prevent bending and damage to products, as well as the trucks’ suitability to handling long loads in confined spaces.

The diesel engine sideloaders have 850mm platforms instead of the usual 1030mm; a 5000kg capacity; 1200mm platform width; a 4500mm lift height and full free lift.

“The new Bulmor trucks have significantly improved our speed of operation,” said Steve Parkin of James E. Smith (Northern) Ltd.

“The low profile and small wheelbase means they are quick and versatile and the tight turning circle is particularly good for use inside our warehouses.”
