James Latham refines contingency plans

7 April 2020

Leading UK timber products distributor James Latham is continuing to refine its contingency plans as more information becomes available on the current coronavirus situation.

Lathams announced the temporary closure of its Scotland depot on March 25 and then its Abbey Woods, Dresser Mouldings, Gateshead and Dudley depots on April 1.

Whilst the depots remain closed, the company continues to fulfil customer requirements from its UK network of sites that are still operating.

“The health of our staff is of primary importance and our technology is being used to good effect to get those that can work at home to do so while we continue to support our customers,” said Andrew Wright, managing director of Lathams Ltd.

“With recent statements from the Government confirming the construction industry as critical to the UK economy and while demand from customers supporting the NHS continues we remain focused on supporting these companies from our depots that continue operating across the UK.

“Our sales and administration teams across the UK are contactable in the normal way and we will continue to pay our suppliers on our normal terms as it is important that cash continues to flow in the economy.”
