Kullik & Rullmann acquires Newcastle-based Quay Timber

2 March 2021

Leading timber agent Kullik & Rullmann AG (K&R) has acquired UK-based Quay Timber Ltd in a move which accelerates development of the group’s online business.

The acquisition of Newcastle-based timber merchant Quay Timber also brings synergy with K&R’s UK subsidiary Gill & Robinson Ltd, also based in Newcastle. Quay Timber has 15 employees and has significantly expanded its web-based business in recent years.

Quay Timber has more than 4,000m2 of warehouse space coupled with strong local demand. Its founder Mark Fawcett will continue as a consultant and focus on driving the expansion of the business.

As a result of the integration into the Kullik Group, Quay Timber will benefit from additional purchasing facilities, that will also allow for an expansion of the range of products offered.

The Kullik Group and its suppliers will benefit from enhanced storage facilities, with Newcastle complementing existing stocks in Hull and Shoreham.

K&R plans to merge the sites of Quay Timber and Gill & Robinson Ltd.

Kullik Group’s trading companies are selling softwood timber with a value of over €120m annually across the globe, with its main markets being the USA, the UK and Germany. The parties have agreed non-disclosure of the transaction details as well as the financial figures of Quay Timber.
