James Latham scoops top prize at TTJ Awards

Broadcaster Huw Edwards read out hot news from the timber trade yesterday – James Latham winning the coveted Timber Trader of the Year title at the TTJ Awards 2013.

Mr Edwards, the host and guest speaker for the TTJ Awards, invited Lathams director Chris Sutton to collect the trophy before around 330 guests at The Savoy.

It was the fourth consecutive time Lathams had secured the Awards’ top prize after the company has won most votes across all Awards categories. It was also the eighth time it had won since the Awards started.

Other winners on the day were Crown Timber for Softwood Trader of the Year; Brooks Bros for Hardwood Trader of the Year; Panel Supplies for Panels Trader of the Year; and International Plywood (Importers) for Plywood Trader of the Year.

Thorogood Timber scooped the Small Timber Business of the Year Award. Howarth Timber won the Excellence in Marketing prize and joinery manufacturer JELD-WEN was judged as the winner of Website of the Year.

The two winners of the Career Development Award were Holbrook Timber Frame’s David Clement in the under-25 trainee category and Lauren Murdoch of Howarth Timber (Windows & Doors) in the over-25 category.

The Timber Innovation Award was won by Frame Wise for its Wise Wall T system; The Borneo Initiative won the Environmental Achievement Award; and Kebony was rewarded with the Achievement in Engineered Timber Award.
