Latvian mill acquires line from Bergs

21 September 2017

Byko-Lat has acquired a planing line from Bergs Timber’s Myresjö Sawmill which stopped production in the summer.

The line is being moved to Valmiera in Latvia and is expected to start production at the end of Q2, 2018.

The line will be the fifth planing line in Valmiera and will increase the planing capacity to 200,000m3 annually.

The reason for the new production line is to reduce delivery lead-times and increase capacity to customers, said Valts Kurpnieks, managing director of Byko-Lat.

Byko-Lat has at its Valmiera site a timber planing & further processing factory including impregnation, a window and door factory and a prefabricated house factory. Byko-Lat’s garden furniture production is located at the Cesis factory.

The production is sold to more than 25 countries worldwide. Byko-Lat is part of Norvik Timber Industries.
