Major investment for Vicaima in UK

Portuguese interior door manufacturing giant Vicaima Group has announced a multi-million pound investment and expansion of its British operation.

The move follows a sustained period of growth in the UK market for performance timber doors and doorsets.

Vicaima Ltd has bought its current leased seven-acre site in Swindon - the former Crosby Doors site which it has occupied since 1996. It has plans to refurbish the site and develop it to enable further growth.

“This is an historic day for the Vicaima organisation, marking as it does the group’s continued expansion globally and in particular strengthening our position within the quality design and performance end of the UK market,” said Vicaima Group chairman Arlindo Costa Leite.

“This investment will enable us to increase both our range, flexibility and explore new markets for Vicaima products here in the UK and throughout Ireland,” added Vicaima UK managing director Barry Waddell.

Vicaima’s Swindon operation, which currently houses in excess of 100,000 doors and employs about 85 people, distributes bespoke and stock products to customers throughout the UK and Ireland.
