The future of Scotland’s largest independent forestry management business has been secured through an MBO.

The founders of RTS Ltd have secured a management buy-out, allowing it to continue its growth and expansion in the forestry and renewables sector.

RTS Ltd is involved in harvesting, consultancy and estate management.

Directors Norman O’Neill, Harry Wilson and Ross Kennedy have led the buy-out, supported by Royal Bank of Scotland.

RTS Ltd, through its trading arm, RTS (Woodfuel), is also a significant player in the Scottish biomass industry, annually producing 40,000 tonnes of woodfuel for a wide range of clients across the country.

Following completion of the deal, new managing director Norman O’Neill stated said he was delighted to have acquired RTS from Alan and Heather Robbins and recognised their “unstinting” work in growing RTS Ltd to where it is today.

RTS Ltd has an annual turnover in excess of £12m and employs over 40 staff. The company also uses a substantial number of local and national contractors in their operations.
