MEDITE SMARTPLY sponsors Wood and Wellness

25 January 2019

Leading panel products manufacturer MEDITE SMARTPLY has come on board TTJ’s Wood and Wellness Conference as a Silver Sponsor.

Alex de Rijke, of Stirling Prize winning architects dRMM, and Sean Sutcliffe, director of award-winning Benchmark Furniture, have completed the speaker programme for the Feb 13 event at the Hilton London Tower Bridge, which will explore wood’s role in health and well-being in the built environment.

MEDITE SMARTPLY, which manufacturers OSB and MDF products, including the zero added formaldehyde MDF panel Ecologique, joins the British Woodworking Federation as Silver Sponsors and timber products distributor James Latham, which is Headline Sponsor of the event.

Italy-based timber construction fastener supplier Rothoblaas has also recently come on board as a sponsor.

Architect Alex de Rijke will present the conference healthcare case study on Maggie’s Oldham, which features extensive use of wood, including a hardwood cross-laminated timber structure.

The Maggie’s project is a reversal of the norms of hospital architecture, where institutionalised environments can leave patients dispirited.

Benchmark Furniture’s Sean Sutcliffe will give a wood product manufacturer’s perspective on the health and wellbeing megatrend and share how his company is positioning itself on the issue.

Wood and Wellness is supported by TRADA, the Timber Trade Federation, Structural Timber Association, British Woodworking Federation, Wood for Good, Work in Mind and the Wood Protection Association. Members of these groups benefit from a 25% discount on the £150+VAT ticket price.

The event is aimed at both the wood industries and the specification / design and construction audiences.
