MGM buys Hamilton timber business
3 November 2016MGM Timber has announced the acquisition of Hamilton based Robert Reid & Sons Ltd.
The moves comes as part of Scottish merchant MGM’s ambitious plans to grow turnover of the business by at least 50% in the next two years.
Robert Reid & Sons, which has operated for 69 years, will enable MGM Timber to better service customers in the surrounding area in addition to its existing branches in Glasgow, Wishaw and Ayrshire.
MGM said it remained on the hunt for premises in Edinburgh and Aberdeen.
“We already have a number of established and well performing sites across Scotland and the addition of Robert Reid & Sons Ltd will enable us to suitably service customers in the West of Scotland to help meet consumer demand,” said David Mansell, MGM managing director.
Robert Reid & Sons Ltd will continue to trade under its existing name. All existing staff will be retained.
