New home registrations reach seven-year high

30 May 2014

NHBC’s latest statistics show that April new home registrations reached their highest level since 2007.

Registrations were up 4% in April to 11,912, compared to a year before. Registrations rose 3% to 34,239 in the three months from February to April.

The south-east of England saw strong growth – registrations rose to 4,809 for the period (2013: 3,647). “Having seen very strong growth in 2013, it is comforting to see 2014 consolidate and even improve on last year’s high volumes,” said NHBC commercial director Richard Tamayo.

“As production ramps up across the country it is vital that we are able to provide the support and guidance to the industry that is needed at this time as builders strive to meet the growing demand for more new homes that the UK clearly needs.”
