Obituary: John Porter
21 July 2020John Porter, a director at Taylor Maxwell Timber, has died at the age of 74 after a long battle with cancer.
Mr Porter joined Taylor Maxwell as the general manager of Timber Marketing Corporation (Horsham office) in August 1985 after a career as a buyer for Tilgate Pallets, which at the time, was the largest pallet producer in the UK.
He rapidly progressed through the business and was made a director of Timber Marketing Corporation in April 1989, subsequently becoming a director of Taylor Maxwell Timber in April 1991. He had all the attributes needed to be a successful director and helped the business develop until the time of his retirement in October 2006.
“We enjoyed his wit and company over many years and our deepest condolences go to his family,” said Tony Shelton of Taylor Maxwell.
