SCA acquires Swedscot Timber

The company, based in Cumbernauld, will be rebranded as SCA Merchant Services.

“We have been interested in expanding our distribution capabilities into Scotland to offer a national distribution solution for our merchant customer base,” said SCA Timber Supply UK managing director John Griffiths.

“We are delighted to have acquired Swedscot in addition to retaining the services of Steven McRitchie and his team.”

Swedscot, which services the builder’s merchant market with timber and associated products, was established in 2003 and has been based in Cumbernauld since 2011.

SCA has also acquired additional property next to the Swedscot operation in order to expand upon current trading activities.

All existing Swedscot employees will remain under the leadership of the previous owner, Steven McRitchie, who becomes general manager for the new operation.
