Södra improves profitability

16 September 2014

Södra’s latest interim results reveal a huge improvement in the company’s financial performance.

For the period January to August, operating profits were just over SKr1bn, compared with a SKr786m loss for the same period last year.

Earnings for the second four-month period were SKr509m, a turnaround on a SKr687m loss.

Södra attributes the improvement to increased demand and higher prices for finished goods.

"Demand and orders improved during the second four-month period and the group reported a positive performance and improved profitability," said president and CEO Lars Idermark.

"The improvement is mainly the result of a more favourable market, in addition to the group's own productivity enhancing measures and ocntinued efficiency gains."
