STA members ride for charity

A team of cyclists from Structural Timber Association member companies has raised more than £5,000 for charity.

The group of eight, which included representatives from Scotframe, Flight Timber, Oakworth Homes, Lowfield Timber Frame and Timber Constructions, cycled from Whitehaven in Cumbria to Whitby in North Yorkshire on May 26 – completing the ride in just one day. The 161-mile journey – which included the infamously steep Hardknott Pass – took 15 hours and the team raised £5,530 for Children in Need and the Timber Trades’ Benevolent Society.

“The route is one that is cycled by hundreds of people every year, but they usually do it in about three days rather than one, especially as there are some very hilly parts! “ said Scotframe sales director Malcolm Thomson.
