Staircase manufacturer Stockwell expands

Stockwell Ltd, a producer of bespoke timber staircases, will use the funding to expand its production capabilities by increasing its permanent workforce by almost 90% and investing in new equipment.

The company, which has been supplying Scotland’s housebuilders and homeowners for the past six years, specialises in creating and manufacturing complex and intricate staircase designs.

The investment provided by UKSE, the Tata Steel subsidiary set up to encourage regeneration in traditional steel producing areas, is expected to facilitate a substantial increase in Stockwell’s personnel. Over the next three years, Stockwell will add 11 permanent staff members, including two additional apprentices.

It will also use the capital to strengthen its commitment to training young people in joinery manufacture.

New equipment will include CNC machinery to allow the company to meet the growing demand for increasingly complex stairway designs, including spiral hand railings.
