Stenner boosts exports down under

Stenner, the sawmill and wood processing machinery supplier, has boosted sales in Australia and last month shipped a second container of ST resaws.

Most of the ST100R 36in resaws have been sold to pallet manufacturers, who have struggled to buy cut-to-size components, said Stenner managing director Syd Mather.

One producer, Palletco SA in Adelaide, now has two ST100Rs. They are floor level machines capable of resawing timber up to 16in deep.

“The circumstances are quite strange in as much as we have benefited from the downturn in the Australian sawmill industry that has come about because of their strong currency,” Mr Mather said.

“I am sure that UK pallet and fencing manufacturers would benefit from a resaw as the flexibility allows them much more freedom in the purchase of raw materials.”
