16 November 2015

The Fishing Hut in Hampshire, made from French Oak and English Douglas fir, has scooped the Arnold Laver Gold Award at this year’s Wood Awards.

Broadcaster and architectural historian Tom Dyckhoff announced the winner at the presentation ceremony at Carpenters’ Hall on November 10.

Price & Myers designed The Fishing Hut, with Inwood Developments being the main contractor and joinery company. The timber consultant was Wood Architecture & Building, with wood supplied by EC Forest Products and East Brothers Timber Ltd.

The Fishing Hut sits on a man-made lake and is a secure place to store boats and fishing tackle, while also being used as a meeting place and shelter for anglers. The Wood Awards is the foremost UK competition for timber in construction.
