Timber companies encouraged to use TTF Academy for training of furloughed employees

15 April 2020

UK timber company workers can brush up on their learning and skills during the current period of government restrictions, says the Timber Trade Federation.

The TTF is reminding the trade that its TTF Academy offers online courses ranging from accredited timber and product CPD modules, to videos and bite-sized modules in essential skills.

Through short courses, teams can learn about all aspects of the timber trade, with modules including responsible sourcing, timber cladding and fire safety, helping to boost knowledge and ultimately sales for when business operations return to normal after the Covid-19 crisis.

“Furloughed employees can continue to engage in training, and are actively being encouraged to by the Government,” said the TTF. “This will not cause any issues for you provided it does not generate revenue for your business.”

Employees can also work on their soft skills beyond the timber trade, including an introduction to GDPR, dealing with conflict and cyber security.

TTF members can manage learners through the system and track their progress.

Registration forms are available on the TTF Academy online learning portal at https://ttfacademy.com

The TTF Academy also offers training specific for timber merchants, the Level 3 Award in Timber Merchanting, backed by the timber industry and accredited by ProSkills / Occupational Awards. It can contribute up to 70% of knowledge marks towards the Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Merchant Supplies.
