Timber industry veteran on fund-raising target

23 March 2023

Timber Industry veteran Keith Ainslie, sales manager at James Jones & Sons Ltd, is well on his way to reaching his charity fund-raising target.

At the London Softwood Club Christmas lunch Mr Ainslie announced that he’d be marking his retirement from the trade by undertaking a series of long distance running races to raise funds for Against Breast Cancer. He has now completed the Edinburgh Meadows Marathon and the Carlisle Half Marathon, and has his sights set next on the 26.2 miles of the Madrid Marathon on April 23 and culminating with the world’s largest half marathon in Gothenburg on Saturday May 13.

The Edinburgh Meadows marathon comprised 19 loops round the popular Meadows Park and Mr Ainslie admitted it was one of the toughest marathons he completed. The mental challenge of running the same loop whilst dodging other park users and with a particularly unpleasant hill at the end of each loop made for a long day, but he was still very pleased to finish in a time of 4 hours 21 minutes.

Mr Ainslie’s JustGiving page has already received donations totalling over £5,000 from across the timber trade and there is still time to make a donation at Keith Ainslie is fundraising for Against Breast Cancer (justgiving.com).
