TRADA University Challenge call for entries

4 December 2018

TRADA is calling for entries for its annual student design competition.

The 2019 competition, called “University Challenge” will see students tasked with designing exemplary student accommodation predominantly from timber.

Sixty students from 30 universities will compete at the University of Sheffield in the charrette-styled challenge on February 8-9. They will work to a tight brief, using relevant timber and timber products and will have to work around real life constraints, delivering a useful and stimulating real life experience.

Pioneering design professionals and industry members will be on-hand throughout the competition supplying helpful information, support and guidance. Matching the diverse body of contestants, a mixed but experienced panel of judges is being assembled.

Third year students (or fourth year if applying from Scotland) of engineering, architecture, architectural technology, quantity surveying and landscape architecture from UK universities are eligible to enter.

The competition will build on the success of last year’s Urban Buzz
