The UK’s largest gathering of joinery manufacturers took place last Friday for the British Woodworking Federation’s (BWF) annual dinner.

Former Premiership referee Graham Poll entertained around 180 guests at Draper’s Hall, central London, while BWF president Sean Parnaby said the BWF and its work had never been such high profile, with its fire door initiatives achieving extensive national press coverage following the Grenfell Tower fire tragedy.

One of the main features of the event – the BWF Awards – saw Gelder Joinery win the Woodworking Project of the Year category for its restoration of an Edwardian house, while Morland scooped the Product Design in Wood Award for its edgebanded melamine faced FD30 fire doors.

The Process Efficiency Award was won by AJB Group for its “Process Efficiency to the Max” initiative and Kevin Claughton of Cotswold Manufacturing Ltd was winner of the Health & Safety Hero Award.

Trainee of the Year was Matt Brown of Leamington Spa College and Apprentice of the Year was Oliver Walker of Gowercroft Joinery.
