UK wood product imports up 60% in Q2

UK wood product import volumes in Q2 were 60% higher than the same quarter last year, according to the latest Timber Trade Federation (TTF) statistics.

The volume of the timber and panel products imported by the UK in the first six months of 2021 was over 6 million m3. In the month of June alone, over 1 million m3 was imported - the last time that 1 million m3 was imported during a June was back in 2007.

In the first six months of 2021 solid wood imports were 47% higher than over the same period in 2020 and imports of panel products were 28% higher.

By the end of June 2021, the volume of imported timber and panels exceeded 6 million m3. This was 1.75 million m3 higher than in the first six months of 2020; the months most affected by the pandemic.
