3 November 2014

The US has achieved record exports of southern pine to China under a government agency funded promotion to boost sales.

Exports are expected to reach US$54m in 2014, a ten-fold increase in the past five years.

Demand for pressure treated southern pine, a key value added item, is forecast to reach US$15m this year, an increase of 245% during the same period.

The Market Access Program of the USDA has funded trade fairs and translation services for the Southern Forest Products Association.
