Head of Timber Sales

Reports to CEO/CFO
Salary: Negotiable depending on experience, including benefits package.
Job Description: To procure one off and long-term contracts for the sale of the companies tropical, hardwood and softwood timber resources grown on the company’s inhouse tropical timber plantations. To develop the long-term timber offtake agreements.
Location: Predominately UK based with overseas travel as required

Key accountabilities and decision ownership:
• Accountable for long-term visible offtake contracts
• Ensuring harvest quotes are placed
• Best prices achieved for timber sales
• Build a sales-team
• Building a network of reliable off takers for short
notice harvest concessions, as well as long-term agreements
• Assist the BOD in evaluating growth and development opportunities
Skills, know-how and experience:
• Significant experience either selling to Mills/Brokers or buying
for Mills/Brokers
• Network of direct contacts with end buyers
• Team player
• Good knowledge of timber varieties and markets
• Effective communication skills
• Working knowledge of contract shipping, transport and Import/Export
process
• Ambitious, looking for the right company to develop your full potential
• Up to date detailed pricing knowledge

Technical / professional qualifications:
• Member of relevant trade organisations and federations
• Good understanding of REDD+ and FLEGT
• Good understanding of Import/Export rules
• Minimum 5 years of experience in the sector
• Formal qualifications and further education, minimum degree level

• Hitting financial, volume and geographic targets
• Identification and penetration of new markets
• Securing long term sales agreements
