PEFC Belgium targets PRs and councils

PEFC Belgium has been targeting PR companies and local authorities in its bid to spread its message about sustainable forest management.

To assist public relations agencies in better advising their clients on "green" communications, PEFC Belgium organised three breakfast sessions, informing participants about the sustainability aspects of PEFC certification and the benefits it offers to companies. More than 80 people participated in the events.



It has also produced guidance for local authorities on the purchases of wood-based products
.

The guide contains information about how to certify a municipality’s forest; how to integrate PEFC in procurement policies; and how to inform citizens of engagement in sustainable forest certification.

It was distributed to all 262 communes in the Walloon region.



More than 200 Belgian companies now have PEFC chain of custody certification.
