German solid wood machining centre specialist Stegherr said that customers for its new compact FD-E3 ranged from small companies looking for an entry into greater automation, to bigger joiners wanting to add extra capacity or flexibility.

“One company has integrated it with their established Weinig line,” said managing director Eduard Wellein.

In online mode, the FD-E3 can machine all six surfaces of a component in one pass, including cutting apertures.

Stegherr, which works in the UK with John Penny Wood-working Machinery, also highlighted its GLS and GLS-2 servo-controlled mitre saws, designed to cut glazing bars and other window components in wood, plastic or aluminium.
