The Carnforth-based bespoke furniture maker said the machines, a Control and a smaller Compact saw, have also reduced operator fatigue and improved dust extraction.

The units have replaced a 15-year-old Striebig Standard, which was used to cut MFC and MDF panels for carcassing.

English Hardwood Design’s Control 5224 is used mainly to cut MFC and wood veneered panels measuring 2.8×2.07m and over 3mm thick. The saw also sizes 40mm thick solid timber worktops.

The Compact 4164 is used for cutting MDF up to 3100x1644mm, with a maximum depth of 60mm.

Prices for Striebig vertical panel saws range from £8,300 to £25,000.
