A new Corob system is helping Arch Coatings UK Ltd to mix paints and pigmented lacquers more quickly and accurately.
The £30,000 Corob Modula unit, installed at the company’s Knottingley laboratories, is able to process water borne coatings and solvent-based materials including polyurethanes and cellulose. Arch says it can guarantee colour accuracy to within 1% through automatic and programmable agitation and recirculation of the colourants.
It is equipped with an Oracolor spectrophotometer with laser pointer for easy and accurate sample reading. A total of 32 internal canisters and 16 external tanks hold a broad mix of colourants with a measurement range from 380-740 nanometres.
Arch says the precision means accurate colour matches can be made from colour cards, swatches, existing products, samples and even clothing, while its speed means 1,000 litres can be scanned, matched, mixed and canned in about 40min.
