Timber treatments specialist Arch Timber Protection is so impressed by Ecobuild that, according to marketing manager Janet Brown, “it’s the only show we’ll exhibit at”.
“Our products are all geared for the specifiers’ market and those are the visitors this exhibition attracts,” she said.
Arch was promoting its Vacsol FR fire retardant protection for timber frame components during the construction phase, and its new modified timber product, Keywood. The latter provides building projects with Durability Class 1 protection and a desired service life of 60 years and was demonstrated on the stand as cladding and decking.
“Keywood uses a biomass resin from the agricultural industry,” said Ms Brown. “There are three natural polymers in timber and this is like adding a fourth – it adds durability and dimensional stability. It’s aimed at the high value end of the market and it’s hoped it will expand the scope of timber to enable it to compete with steel, concrete and glass.”
