Becker Acroma Group is to establish its first US operation, increasing the company’s product portfolio and creating 35 jobs.
The Swedish wood finishes manufacturer is to build the 22,500ft2 factory in Jeffersonville, Indiana, investing more than US$5m into the project at the Bridgeport Industrial Park, creating laboratory, maunfacturing and warehousing space and adding a new water-based product line to its existing lacquer- and paint-based products.
Both the Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC) and One Southern Indiana, a regional economic development agency for the area, have welcomed the arrival of the paints and stains manufacturer, with IEDC offering grants in excess of US$130,000 to Becker Acroma based on performance and employment results.
“We extend a warm welcome to Becker Acroma officials as they plan to establish operations in southern Indiana,” said Michael Dalby, president and chief executive of One Southern Indiana.
Becker Acroma plans to open the Jeffersonville facility in April 2008 and noted that the support of IEDC and One Southern Indiana was “one of the several steps we must take to complete the site location process”.
