Italian woodworking machinery giant Biesse spA has approved the continuation of layoffs into 2012.
Biese said it needed to continue with reorganisation of the group in the face of the negative economic situation which is impacting all its international markets.
The company plans to shed 150 staff, with the hours of a further 750 workers affected.
It said the current and predicted future economic situation meant it needed to cut operating costs, while maintaining investments aimed at growth in sectors such as components, sophisticated automation and software.
