Alan Bloomfield, wood fibre procurement manager for panel board manufacturer Nexfor Ltd, has been elected the new chair of the Forest Industries Development Council (FIDC), the UK forest industries’ wood-chain partnership organisation.
Speaking after the body’s recent annual general meeting in Edinburgh, Mr Bloomfield described as his key aims: to develop “an appropriate level” of resources for FIDC to achieve members’ objectives while retaining cost-effectiveness; to strengthen membership and to ensure that it is fully representative of the UK forest industries; and to keep FIDC politically engaged at the highest level. He also underlined the importance of maintaining a close dialogue with members and of adding value to their businesses.
