Brooks Bros (UK) Ltd has invested more than £500,000 in machinery for its Danbury mill and sister company British Plywood Ltd.
The Maldon-based company has installed Weinig Powermat 500 and 1000 moulders at Danby, while also building a new tool room featuring a Weinig Rondamat 960 profile grinder, OptiControl Logo Com tool measuring system and the PowerLock system.
At Enfield-based British Plywood, Brooks has introduced two automated flooring lines producing cross-cut and end-matched French oak boards.
The lines comprise Weinig Unimat Gold moulders, Grecon Dimter automated optimising cross cut saws, Fromac random length end matching machines and a shrink-wrapping unit.
The Brooks group now operates 13 moulders, five finishing lines, a paper/foil wrapping line, the two flooring lines, a number of cross-cuts, laminators and CNC routers. It has also recently opened a second dedicated flooring showroom at Maldon.
Group director Mark Fleming said: “It was essential that to maintain our current sales growth while reducing delivery lead times we had to invest in the latest technology to enable us to further expand the business.”
