Joinery manufacturer Churchill Brothers has freed up space in its Leavenheath workshop by replacing a sliding table saw with a Striebig vertical panel machine.
The family-run firm is using the Striebig Compact, supplied through TM Machinery Sales Ltd, to size 6-24mm MDF, plywood and blockboard panels in the manufacture of kitchens.
The technology also cuts 40mm thick sections of oak, iroko or maple for use as worktops, while a scribing saw enables the cutting of veneered boards.
Olly Churchill, who runs the business with brother Will, said: “It’s now a one man job to put the sheets on the saw’s frame. It used to take two men to manoeuvre them on the sliding table saw’s bed, so we are saving on both time and effort.”
Striebig’s Compact has been updated to include a re-designed control panel, saw head housing and operating mechanism. The addition of small and medium workpiece supports make processing of small pieces simpler.
Churchill Brothers, which grew out of Leavenheath Joinery, also produces bespoke windows, doors and staircases. Future plans to grow the kitchen business include moving to a new production facility and opening a showroom on site.
