The company has given the SCM tenoning and moulding machine as part of its commitment to a community relations programme which enables students to familiarise themselves with industry standard machinery or continue to improve their skills whilst on day release or on evening courses.

“It’s fantastic for us to be in a position to donate specialist machinery such as this to Cornwall College Camborne and know it is helping people get qualified and build careers in the industry,” said Richard Trevail, head of operations at Clearwood UK.

The company currently has three apprentices at the college and Mr Trevail hopes the donation will better equip them for work at Clearwood UK.

Bob Harris, curriculum area manager for wood occupations at the college, said the equipment will enable students to benefit from new skills which will help them in their future careers.
